# FAQ - Commitment Management
### 1. What is the purpose of the commitments module?
The **Commitments** module allows you to view existing commitments and create new ones as well as track the payments planned by a donor and related information.

### 2. Can commitment transactions be generated automatically?
Yes.
Prodon includes a feature that allows the automatic generation of commitment transactions.

### 3. How do I create a new commitment?
In the **Commitments** section, click **Add** to begin creating a new commitment.

### 4. What information must be entered in the commitment details?
You must specify the **commitment type**, **registration date**, **start date**, **end date**, and the **payment method** used.

### 5. What payment information can be defined?
You can specify the **next payment date**, **payment amount**, **payment frequency**, **number of payments**, and the **goal** to be reached.

### 6. What is the purpose of the "Automatically complete when goal is reached" option?
This option automatically closes the commitment once the expected total amount has been reached.

### 7. Why automatically adjust the last payment?
This option adjusts the amount of the final payment so that the total of all payments matches the established goal exactly.

### 8. Is it mandatory to select an occasion or an activity?
Yes.
An **occasion** must be associated with the commitment.
Depending on your needs, you may also associate an **activity** and **accounting information**.

### 9. Can I specify whether a receipt should be issued?
Yes.
When creating the commitment, you can indicate whether a receipt should be issued for the associated payments.

### 10. How do I associate a client with a commitment?
You must select the appropriate client and, if applicable, choose the primary contact associated with that client's record.

### 11. Is it possible to modify the information that appears on receipts?
Yes.
When associating the client, you can adjust the contact information that will be used on receipts.

### 12. What is the purpose of adding a solicitor/canvasser?
Adding a solicitor/canvasser allows you to identify the person responsible for soliciting or managing the commitment.

### 13. When should a recognition program be used?
This option is used when a commitment must be associated with a recognition program or with a contact linked to that program (**this module is required**).

### 14. What is the difference between commitment characteristics and transaction characteristics?
**Commitment characteristics** are associated with the commitment record itself, whereas **transaction characteristics** apply to individual transactions.

### 15. How do I complete the creation of a commitment?
Once all the information has been entered, click **Complete** to save the commitment to the database.
